Seton Hall Prep soccer team advances to ECT semifinals

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep soccer team went 2-0 this past week to raise its record to 15-2-2 on the season, advancing to the Essex County Tournament semifinals.

On Thursday, Oct. 18, the Pirates hosted No. 14 seed Science Park High School in the first round of the 45th Essex County Tournament at Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Field. The third-seeded Pirates won 7-0. Skyler Storms scored twice while Lucas Ross, Aidan Dunphy, Eddie Neas, William Monroy, and Dylan Perez each scored a goal. Ross, Dunphy, Brian Zimmermann, and Alex Treska each had two assists while Monroy, Perez, and Ben Chambeau each had one assist. Liam Bertrand and Tomas Hut each had one save to record the shutout.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, Seton Hall hosted No. 6 seed Livingston and won, 2-0, with Ross scoring two second-half goals. Bertrand had one save to record the clean sheet. At 32:19, Ross connected on assists by Storms and Joe Kearns. With 5:41 left, Ross scored on a breakaway on assists by Storms and Dunphy.

Seton Hall will now face No. 2 seed Millburn in the semifinals on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m.  at Livingston HS.

Following the Livingston match, Ross commented on the upcoming match against Millburn. “I hope we do much better this time against Millburn (lost 1-0 on Oct. 8). We want to show people how good this team is.”  Bertrand also commented on the Millburn match.”It will be a tough challenge against a very good Millburn team,” he said. “Getting another chance to face them is really important to us, especially in the County Tournament.”
