Seton Hall Prep soccer team raises record to 10-0-1 on the season

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Seton Hall Prep soccer team remained undefeated as the Pirates went 3-0 this past week to raise their record to 10-0-1 on the season.

On Sept. 23, the Pirates hosted Livingston at Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Field and defeated the Lancers, 1-0. Lucas Ross scored with 7:00 left in the second half on assists by Tate Sekel and Shane Farrell. Tomas Hut had two saves to record the shutout.

On a cloudy and rainy Thursday afternoon, Sept. 26, the Pirates traveled to Frank Ritzer Field in Maplewood to take on Columbia. They defeated the Cougars, 1-0, when Ross scored with 29:52 left in the second half on assists by Aidan Dunphy and Sal Vito. Hut had two saves to record his fifth clean sheet of the season.

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, Sept. 28, Seton Hall defeated Irvington, 5-0, at Tevlin Field. In the first half, Ross connected on a penalty kick and Michael Batanjany scored on assists by Dunphy and Farrell. The Pirates scored three goals in the second half to close out the scoring. Nick Palangio scored from Dunphy, Ben Chambeau scored from Zaiden James and Edward Kelly, while Chambeau scored again from Dylan Afonso and David Schuster. Hut had two saves while Aidan Batista had four saves to record the team’s ninth shutout of the season.

STATS: Ross leads the team in scoring with six goals while Chambeau and Farrell each has scored three goals. Dunphy leads the team in assists with seven while Sekel, Farrell, and Kelly each have three assists.
