Seton Hall Prep track and field team excels at North Non-Public ‘A’ State meet

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep track and field team finished fourth in the team standings at the NJSIAA Non-Public “A” State Championships at Franklin HS, June 1-2. The Pirates had 47 team points, three points behind third-place St. Peter’s Prep. Christian Brothers Academy won the team title with 104 points and Union Catholic was second with 93 points.

Nick Parisi won the 100-meter dash in 10.73 and placed fourth in the both the 200-meter dash in 22.15 and the 400-meter dash in 49.61 to lead the Pirates.

Anthony Algieri finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.55 and 10th in the javelin at 143 feet-7 inches. Jesse Reid was third in the long jump at 21 feet-4 inches and 13th in the triple jump at 38-9. Justice Sims was third in the triple jump at 43-10 ¼. Kennith Washington was sixth in the triple jump at 42-8 and seventh in the long jump at 20-¼.  The 4×100-meter relay was second in 42.39. The 4×800 relay was eighth in 8:38.72. Caseem Akinruli-Dewitt was eighth in the shot put at 50-5 ¼ and 13th in the discus at 120-8. Quentin Phanord was eighth in the 200 dash in 22.75.

Parisi (100 dash, 200 dash, 400 dash), Algieri (110 hurdles), the 4×100 relay, and Reid (long jump) have qualified for the NJSIAA State Meet of Champions this Saturday, June 9, at Northern Burlington County Regional HS in Columbus.
