Seton Hall Prep twin pitchers Jamil and Jermaine Vanheyningen select Division 1 Campbell University

WEST ORANGE – Twin right-handed pitchers Jamil and Jermaine Vanheyningen, who are rising seniors on the Seton Hall Prep varsity baseball team, have verbally committed to Campbell University, located in Buies Creek, N.C., to continue their baseball careers.

The West Orange residents were key contributors for this past spring’s SHP team that won the Greater Newark Tournament title for the 16th time, which is a record, won the state North Jersey Non-Public A title; and won its eighth state Non-Public A championship, finishing with a 28-3 record.

The Pirates finished ranked No. 1 in the state by both The Star-Ledger and MSG Varsity.com; No. 20 in the nation in the final USA Today poll and No. 16 in the nation in the final Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll.

During their junior seasons, Jamil went 2-0 in four starts with a 1.72 earned run average, striking out 21 and allowing 11 hits and 10 walks in 20 innings pitched, and Jermaine was 1-0 with a 1.40 ERA in five innings with four strikeouts, one hit and four walks.

Campbell University, nicknamed the Fighting Camel, compete in the Southern Conference, which is a Division I conference.
