Seton Hall Prep wrestling team falls to Delbarton in sectional quarterfinals; to face West Orange HS on Feb. 12

WEST ORANGE – The sixth-seeded Seton Hall Prep varsity wrestling team lost to third-seeded Delbarton, 56-22, in the quarterfinal round of the state North Jersey Non-Public A tournament on Feb. 8 at Delbarton in Morristown.

The Pirates moved to an 11-8 record.

The winners for SHP were junior Daniel Caicedo, who won by forfeit in the 106-pound bout; sophomore Maguire Pecci, who won by forfeit in the 113-pound bout; junior Aidan Monteverdi, who earned a 13-5 major decision win in the 152-pound bout; and junior T.J. Calas, who earned a pin in 1:27 in the 160-pound bout.

The Seton Hall Prep versus West Orange High School match will be held Feb. 12 at WOHS at 5 p.m. The match was re-scheduled from Feb. 5 after WOHS was closed due to inclement weather.

The Pirates won the Essex County Tournament team title, Jan. 21-22, at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange.
