WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team won its last regular season game to raise its record to 13-7-3. This is the first time since 2005-06 season that the Pirates had more than 12 victories in a season. They are looking forward to facing Delbarton in the quarterfinal round of the 61st Gordon Cup Ice Hockey Tournament at Aspen Ice in Randolph, Monday, Feb. 11.
On Tuesday, Feb. 5, they traveled to Sport-O-Rama in Monsey, N.Y. to face Northern Highlands and came from behind to defeat them 5-2. Trailing 2-0 after the first period, Seton Hall scored three goals in the second period to take a 3-2 lead after two periods. Harrison Rocheville opened the scoring at the 10:00 mark on an assist by Brendan Waivada. Thomas Colucci tied the score with 6:11 left on assists by Ryan Kemp and Tyler Fogu and Anthony Martine gave the Pirates the lead with 1:31 left on an assist by Alex Kuhtik. In the third period, they extended their lead to 4-2 when Oliver Grinkin scored on assists by Kemp and Colucci with 6:33 left. Colucci added a empty net goal on an assist by Fogu with 1:02 left. Patrick Ackerman stopped 20 shots to earn the victory.
