SHP football goes 8-0 at the Greg Schiano 7-on-7 shootout

WEST ORANGE, NJ — On Saturday, June 26, the Seton Hall Prep football team participated in the Greg Schiano 7-on-7 shootout at SHI Stadium on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway. The team captured the title, going 8-0 on the day. The team defeated Imhotep Institute Charter High School from Philadelphia, 13-0, in the championship game. The team’s other victories were against St. Thomas Aquinas, Edison; Roman Catholic, Philadelphia; Curtis High School, Staten Island, N.Y.; Emerald Ridge Football, Delaware; Lacey Township High School, Lacey Township; Cherokee High School, Marlton; and Paramus High School, Paramus. The defense allowed only four touchdowns during the day, and the offense was led by quarterback and Harvard University commit Jaden Craig.

The team consisted of quarterbacks Jaden Craig and Tyler Marion; receivers Nick Dunneman, Aidan Mack, Myles Thomason, Luke Sudol, Mac McAteer, Byron Maddox and Julius Vixcari; and, on defense, Matthew Monteleone, Kevin Agnew, Jackson Dowd, Jackson Collins, Jaylan McClain, Jim Palaia, Isaiah Gordan, Darren Burton, Marquis, Diggs, Kelvin Williams and Jordan McAllister.

A total of 79 teams participated in the shootout. SHP head coach Bill Fitzgerald said, “It was a great experience to play at Rutgers University. Coach Schiano and his staff put on a first-class event. The players showed a lot of grit, considering they had to play eight games in one day, and they were still fresh in the last game. The defense played outstanding, while the offense was very methodical.”
