WEST ORANGE – Led by University of Notre Dame-bound senior guard TJ Gibbs, the Seton Hall Prep varsity basketball team looks to have another stellar season.

The Pirates, under fifth-year head coach Kevin Williams, will tip off the season Friday, Dec. 18, at Newark Tech in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game.

The Pirates won the SEC-American Division and Essex County Tournament titles before finishing with a 25-2 record last season after losing to Pope John of Sparta in the state North Jersey Non-Public A tournament final last year.

Gibbs averaged 19.2 points a game last season. The 6-3 guard is ranked No. 5 on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,349 points. His brothers, Sterling Gibbs (1,984 points, Class of 2011) and Ashton Gibbs (1,882 points, Class of 2008) are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 on the Prep’s all-time scoring list.

Senior guard Stephen Ferraro and senior forward Zach Keller, who finished a sensational football career as a quarterback for the Prep and will play football at Princeton University, are other key returnees for the Pirates.
