Top-seeded Seton Hall Prep lacrosse team defeats Columbia to advance to ECT semifinals

WEST ORANGE – Jack Sarson scored five goals and added one assist; Brian Tevlin had three goals and two assists and Liam McCabe also had three goals as the top-seeded and three-time defending champion Seton Hall Prep lacrosse team defeated ninth-seeded Columbia, 16-8, in the quarterfinals of the Essex County Tournament.

The Pirates will host fourth-seeded Montclair Kimberley in the semifinals on May 5. The other semifinal pits seventh-seeded Millburn at sixth-seeded Montclair. Millburn upset second-seeded Caldwell, 8-7, in overtime and Montclair upset third-seeded West Essex, 13-12, in the quarterfinals. MKA defeated fifth-seeded Glen Ridge ,12-8, in the quarterfinals.

Griffin Westlin had two goals and two assists; Michael Mughetto had one goal and two assists; Sam Corazza and Jack Rutter each had a goal for the Pirates, who improved to a 9-4 record. Colin Kirst made 10 saves and Cameron Fiore made seven saves for SHP.
