WEST ORANGE, NJ — Nicholas Adams and Arthur Rosu took first place in their respective weight classes to lead the West Orange High School boys wrestling team at the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association’s District 10 tournament at Nutley High School on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Adams, a junior, pinned Leo Tiankee of Belleville in 1 minute, 32 seconds to win the 120-pound weight class title.
Rosu, a senior, captured the 215-pound title, as he pinned Van Newman of Delaware Valley Regional in 3:18 in the final.
Sean Harrington, a senior, took third place in the 157-pound weight class for West Orange after posting a 7-4 decision over Finneas Jones of Montclair in the consolation.
Adams, Rosu and Harrington qualified for the NJSIAA’s Region 3 tournament, hosted by WOHS, on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24.
The Mountaineers had three fourth-place finishers at the district: senior Ethan Young at 113, junior Kyle Cassidy at 126 and sophomore Adam Barakat at 138.
West Orange finished in fifth place out of 10 teams at the district.
