West Orange HS and Seton Hall Prep indoor track teams excel at the state Relays

WEST ORANGE – Senior Timothy Van Cauwenberge took second place overall in the high jump relay to lead the West Orange High School boys’ indoor track and field team a the state Group 4 Relays at the Bennett Center in Toms River on Jan. 14.

Van Cauwenberge leaped 6 feet, 2 inches. WOHS senior teammate Daniel Pierre tied for 23rd at 5-6. Van Cauwenberge and Pierre combined to finish fourth overall, giving the Mountaineers four points.

The other top-six finish for WOHS came in the pole vault relay, as Pierre and senior Rood Romelien combined to finish sixth. They both leaped 11 feet and tied for ninth in the individual standings.

The Seton Hall Prep indoor track and field team gave good efforts at the state Non-Public Relays at the Bennett Center in Toms River last weekend.

Sophomores Nicholas Parisi and Max Ruvo and seniors William Rockson and Brandon Moorer took third in the 4×200-meter relay in 1:36.06.

Parisi, sophomore Mark Morrison, Rockson and Moorer took fourth in the 4×400 relay in 3:35.11.

Morrison, junior Malik Kosanovich, sophomore Erik Bodnar and senior Brian Jordan placed eighth in the 4×800 in 8:58.51.

Parisi, Roxson, Moorer and Morrison took fourth in the 1,600 sprint medley relay in 3:49.30.

Sophomores Anthony Algieri, Roberto Hormazabal and Ethan Ruiz, and senior Darrell Wakefield took sixth in the 4×55-meter shuttle hurdles in 36.63.
