WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School varsity baseball team defeated Belleville, 9-4, in its season opener April 4 at home.
Chris Walker led the way on the mound and at the plate.
Walker allowed two runs in 4 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts to earn the win, and went 2-for-3 with four RBI at the plate.
Mike Giovine went 2-for-2 with a run and Vincent DeSantis went 1-1 with four runs scored for the Mountaineers..
WOHS then lost its next two games, falling to MKA, 11-10, April 6, and Livingston, 14-4, April 7, to move to a 1-2 record.
Chris Spagnuolo went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and an RBI; and Walker was 2-for-4 with an RBI against MKA at home. Erick Castro drove in two runs against Livingston at home.
