West Orange HS baseball team drops tough 2-1 decision to Morristown in North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 tournament semifinals

WEST ORANGE (updated Thur. June 2, 11:19 a.m.) – The fourth-seeded West Orange High School varsity baseball team lost a tough 2-1 decision to top-seeded Morristown in the semifinals of the state North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 tournament on May 31 in Morristown.

The Mountaineers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Morristown tied it 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth and broke the tie in the sixth inning.

Andrew Scholz pitched a complete game for the Mountaineers, allowing five hits.

WOHS lost at Verona, 4-0, in the final game of the season on June 1 in a game that determined whether  WOHS or Verona would share the Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division title with Columbia HS. The Mountaineers finished with an 18-7 overall record and finished second in the SEC-Liberty Division with a 12-4 mark in the division.
