WEST ORANGE, NJ – Christopher Walker went 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and Michael Giovine had two hits and two RBI to lead the West Orange High School varsity baseball team to a 10-0 home win over Montclair Kimberley Academy on Monday, April 17.
Jordan Stennett pitched a five-inning three-hit shutout.
Tyree Bradley had two hits and an RBI and Vincent DeSantis, Chase Garguilo, and Zachary Machuca each drove in a run for WOHS, which snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to a 3-5 record.
In earlier action, the Mountaineers lost at Newton, 12-6, April 11. Machuca went 2-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base; Stennett went 2-for-2 with a run; Walker went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs, two RBI, a walk and a stolen base; Kevin Rodriguez was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI, a run, a walk and a stolen base; and DeSantis was 2-for-4.
WOHS fell to Belleville, 11-6, April 13, at home.
The Mountaineers lost at Caldwell, 15-5, April 15. Stennett went 2-for-3 with two runs and DeSantis went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Machuca was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI; Aaron Puryear was 1-for-2 with a double and a run; and Walker was 1-for-2
WOHS was scheduled to host East Side on April 19 at 4 p.m.
