West Orange HS boys’ basketball team has fine 16-10 season; five players earn All-SEC honors

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High boys’ basketball team, under head coach Demond Cowins, fashioned an impressive 16-10 final record this season, including going 9-3 to finish second in the All-Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division behind Central.

The following WOHS players earned All-SEC-Liberty Division honors:

FIRST TEAM

  • Stephon Sheard, junior guard

SECOND TEAM

  • Jelani Jackson, senior guard
  • Goddy Marc, junior guard

HONORABLE MENTION

  • Tochukwu Okani, junior forward
  • Kenyon Sheard, junior guard

In the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 state tournament, the 10th-seeded Mountaineers advanced to the quarterfinals in which they lost to second-seeded and eventual champion Hackensack, 69-66. WOHS had won four straight and six of seven entering that game.
