West Orange HS boys’ basketball team tops East Orange to reach ECT quarterfinals

WEST ORANGE, NJ – Goddy Marc scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds and Stephon Sheard had 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals to lead the fifth-seeded West Orange High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 64-58 home win over No. 12 seed East Orange Campus in the first round of the Essex County Tournament on Feb. 10.

Robert Meaux had nine points; and Anant Narain and Tobi Okani each had six points for the Mountaineers, who improved to an 11-8 record.

West Orange will visit fourth-seeded Immaculate Conception of Montclair in the quarterfinals on Feb. 17. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Feb. 20 at WOHS against the winner of No. 1 seed Seton Hall Prep and No. 8 seed Millburn.

West Orange received the No. 10 seed in the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 state tournament and will visit No. 7 seed Union City in the first round on Feb. 27.
