WEST ORANGE – Jeremiah Moore had 25 points and Patrick Jamison had 19 points to lead the West Orange High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 62-49 win at Bloomfield on Feb. 1. WOHS improved to an 11-2 mark.

In the previous game, Patrick Jamison scored nine points, but the Mountaineers had its six-game winning streak snapped with a 52-40 home loss to Plainfield on Jan. 28.

The Mountaineers had a 13-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Plainfield opened the second quarter on a 13-0 run and took a 24-18 halftime lead. Plainfield maintained control with a 15-10 third quarter and 13-12 fourth quarter.

It was the Mountaineers’ first loss since a 53-51 setback to Westfield on Jan. 3 at home.

WOHS received the No. 12 seed in the 70th Essex County Tournament and will play a preliminary round game on or by Feb. 6 against either No. 33 seed Montclair Kimberley Academy or No. 36 seed North Star Academy.
