WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School boys’ cross-country team finished third in the boys’ team standings at the Essex County Championships held at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield on Oct. 26.
WOHS had 121 points, three points behind second-place Montclair, which had 118 points. St. Benedict’s Prep won the team title 57 points among the 20 scoring teams.
For WOHS, freshman Shane Brosnan was 14th in 16:32.2; sophomore Alex Aromin-Gabay was 17th in 16:41; sophomore Senay Dani was 19th in 16:45.3; junior John Lupkovich was 35th in 17:19.7; and senior Pierce Moul was 36th in 17:22.3.
Seton Hall Prep finished sixth in the team standings. Junior Colin Schweitzer was sixth overall in 16:07.2; sophomore Kevin Harvey was eighth in 16:14.2; junior Brian Phillips was 44th in 17:33.8 and sophomore Chris Gizzo was 46th in 17:38.5.
On the girls’ side, senior Alina Chant was 10th overall in 20:01.3; senior Kathy Lopez-Jacobs was 12th in 20:14.3; and senior Kayla Robe was 13th in 20:22.1 to lead WOHS.
