WEST ORANGE – The West Orange High School boys’ varsity lacrosse team enjoyed a successful season.
The Mountaineers, under first-year head coach Peter Tourian, finished with a 9-8 overall record after losing to Morristown, 15-11, in the first round of the state North Jersey Group 4 tournament on May 18.
Junior Andrew DiPalma had five goals and two assists; junior Alan Benson had three goals; senior Marshall Lipsey had two goals and one assist; senior Ben Afolabi had one goal and junior Isaac Arowosaye had one assist for WOHS. Senior goalie Brian Crann made 16 saves for the 14th-seeded Mountaineers. Morristown is the No. 3 seed.
Crann had 213 saves this season for a 64 percent save rate to earn All-Klank Division first team honors. DiPalma and Lipsey each made All-Klank first team. DiPalma finished with 45 goals and 30 assists and Lipsey had 30 goals and 10 assists. Benson (19 goals and 14 assists) and Arowosaye (17 goals and 14 assists) each made second team All-Klank.
Arowosaye also had 167 ground balls.
