West Orange HS boys’ soccer team advances to section semifinals

WEST ORANGE, NJ – Senior Ricardo Carias scored two goals to lead the third-seeded and defending champion West Orange High School boys’ varsity soccer team to a 4-1 home win over sixth-seeded Clifton in the quarterfinals of the state North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 tournament on Nov. 3.

Junior Kenneth Vazquiz and senior Kevin Zeligson each had a goal; and senior Andrew DiPalma, junior Brent Llewellyn, senior Dillon Reitberger, and Wes Rideau-Winds each had an assist. Junior Paul Schuler made three saves for the Mountaineers, who improved to a 14-2-2 record.

WOHS will visit second-seeded Morristown on Monday, Nov. 7, in the semifinals. The winner will face the winner between top-seeded Kearny and No. 12 seed Fair Lawn in the final on Nov. 10.
