West Orange HS boys’ soccer team extends win streak to six to move to 9-1-2

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School boys’ varsity soccer team defeated Memorial of West New Yor,  Livingston, and Nutley to extend its winning streak to six games and improve to a 9-1-2 record.

Pancho Pozzolli had one goal and two assists to lead the Mountaineers to a 4-1 win at Memorial of West New York on Oct. 13. Andrew DiPalma, Neil McGarrel, and Maurice Williams each had a goal. Ricardo Carias, Russell Hoffer, Bryce Millington and Diego Pedrido each had an assist. Sam Banks and Paul Schuler each had two saves.

Pozzolli scored with 20 seconds left in regulation on an assist from Pedrido to lift the Mountaineers to a 1-0 win over Livingston on Saturday, Oct. 15.

McGarrel scored two goals and Manny DePierola and Kevin Zeligson each had a goal in the 4-1 win at Nutley on Oct. 17. Bryce Millington collected two assists; and Carias and Hoffer each had one assist. Sam Banks made three saves.

The Mountaineers, seeded third, were scheduled to play in the first round of the Essex County Tournament against  No. 14 seed Verona on Oct. 19. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals Oct. 22. The semifinals are Oct. 26 at Millburn HS. The final is Sunday, Oct. 30, at Montclair State University at 2 p.m.
