West Orange HS boys’ soccer team enjoys another fantastic season; players earn All-SEC and All-County honors

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School varsity boys’ soccer team enjoyed another stellar season under 17th-year head coach Doug Nevins.

The Mountaineers finished with an impressive 15-2-3 record, making a strong bid for a second straight NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 tournament title. In the section final on Nov. 10, third-seeded WOHS lost in a heartbreaking penalty-kick shootout to second-seeded Kearny by a score of 4-3 after the game was scoreless in regulation and two overtimes. The Mountaineers also were vying for their third section title in four years. They went on to win the 2013 NJSIAA Group 4 title.

WOHS finished tied for second in the Super Essex Conference-American with a 5-1-1 record and finished ranked No. 15 in the state by NJ.Com.

The Mountaineers this season were led by several outstanding players. Six WOHS seniors earned All-SEC-American Division honors. Bryce Millington and Pancho Pozzolli made First Team; Dillon Reitberger and Russel Hoffer made Second Team; and Diego Pedrido and Kevin Zeligson made Honorable Mention.

In addition, Millington and Pozzolli made First Team; Hoffer made Second Team; senior Andrei Rosu and Pedrido made Third Team; and Reitberger and Zeligson made Honorable Mention on the Coaches All-Essex County.
