West Orange HS boys’ soccer team tops Newark Tech for eighth win in a row

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School boys’ varsity soccer team defeated Newark Tech, 5-1, Oct. 20, in Newark.

Diego Pedrido had two goals and an assist; Kevin Zeligson had two goals and Brent Llewellyn had the other goal for the Mountaineers.

Pancho Pozzoli, Russel Hoffer, Wes Rideau-Winds, and Jonathan Banks had assists, while Paulie Schuler and Sam Banks combined to make five saves for the Mountaineers, who won their eighth straight game to improve to a 11-1-2 record. WOHS is 11-0-1 since tying Seton Hall Prep, 0-0, in the season opener and losing to Newark East Side, 2-1, in the second game.

WOHS, seeded third, will host sixth-seeded Millburn in the Essex County Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 3:30 p.m. WOHS tied Millburn, 1-1, Sept. 27, in a Super Essex Conference non-division game.
