West Orange HS girls’ basketball team tops Millburn

WEST ORANGE – Mya Bembry scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the West Orange High School girls’ varsity basketball team to a 50-34 home win over Millburn.

Sidney Gordon had five points and five rebounds and Dawn Flood had eight points and six rebounds for the Mountaineers, who improved to a 3-4 record. WOHS outscored Millburn, 17-10, in the fourth quarter.

In previous action, Gordon scored 10 points and Bembry had eight points in the 37-29 home loss to Montclair on Jan. 5.

Gordon had 12 points on four 3-pointers and Bembry also had 12 points in the 40-34 loss at Newark Academy on Jan. 7 in Livingston. Newark Academy led 17-16 at the half and maintained control with a 23-18 second half.
