West Orange HS girls’ cross-country team crowned SEC champs

WEST ORANGE, NJ – For the first time in program history, the West Orange High School varsity girls’ cross-country team captured the regular-season Super Essex Conference-American Division team.

WOHS, under head coach Flecia Blake, clinched the title with a perfect 9-0 record, edging  top teams such as Millburn, Montclair, and Montclair Kimberly Academy.

The Lady Mountaineers also won the team title at the SEC-American Division Championships held at Branch Brook Park in Newark on Oct. 3.

WOHS finished first in the team standings among the nine scoring teams.

Alina Chant, a junior, finished sixth overall in 20:20.7 and sophomore Samara Charles was seventh in 20:34 to lead WOHS.
