West Orange HS girls’ indoor track and field team captures SEC Championships title

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School girls’ indoor track and field team won the team title at the Super Essex Conference-American Division Championships held at Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y., Dec. 22.

Alina Chant won the 3,200 in 12:21.68 and took third in the 1,600 in 5:42.91. Denae Hill won the shot put with a throw of 39 feet-5 inches. Kathy Lopez-Jacobs won the 1,600 in 5:37.61. Victoria Rideau-Winds took second in the 55 dash in 7.58 and third in the 200 dash in 26.88. The 4×400 relay of Vital, Rideau-Winds, Tiara Wilson, and Kayla Robe won in 4:08.67. Abigail Vital took second in both the 200-meter dash (26.86) and 400-meter dash (2:28.94).

The WOHS boys’ team was led by Justice Remar, who took second in the 800 in 2:04.93. Shane Brosnan took third in the 800 in 2:08.39. The sprint medley relay and distance medley relay each took third.

Seton Hall Prep was led by Caseem Akinruli-Dewit, who won the shot put at 51-35, while Timothy O’Connor was second and Tim Polizzi was fourth in the same event. Colin Schweitzer was third in both the 1,600 and 3,200 for SHP.
