WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange High School girls soccer star Natalie Nevins hit a milestone and a first-time school record as she scored her 50th goal and 50th assist on Sept. 19 to lead the Mountaineers to a 4-0 win over Belleville.

Nevins, a senior co-captain, had two goals and two assists as the team won its third straight and improved its record to 4-2 on the season.

Nevins, a senior, committed last year to St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pa. She also ranks in the top five percent of her class.

“Getting 50 goals and 50 assists was one of my biggest goals and dreams coming into West Orange High School as a freshman, and to actually achieve it was an amazing feeling,” Nevins said. “Besides winning a county and state sectional championship (last season), this has been one of my proudest moments through all my four years here.

“My goals for this season are to continue to execute on the field and do whatever my team needs me to do to be successful and to hopefully put ourselves in a position for another county and state sectional championship.”

Senior co-captain Kiara Machuca also had two goals and juniors Emma Mitchell and Gianna Festino each had an assist.

The next home game will be Sept. 24 against Nutley beginning at 4 p.m.
