West Orange HS girls’ soccer team falls in PK shootout vs. MKA in the Esssex County Tournament semifinals

MILLBURN, NJ –The top-seeded West Orange High School varsity girls’ soccer team lost a heartbreaking decision to fifth-seeded Montclair Kimberley Academy in the Essex County Tournament semifinals held at Millburn HS on Wednesday night, Oct. 25.

The game was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation and overtime. In the penalty kick shootout, MKA won, 4-2.

Despite the loss, the Mountaineers remained undefeated on the season with a record of 12-0-4.

Emma Mitchell gave the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead in the first half. MKA tied it later in the half.

In the second half, sophomore Natalie Nevins scored on a penalty kick to give WOHS a 2-1 lead. But MKA responded with a goal to tie it.
