WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School varsity girls’ soccer team won three games last week to remain undefeated on the season.
Freshman Emma Mitchell and sophomore Natalie Nevins each had a goal to lead the Mountaineers to a 2-0 win over state-ranked Montclair on Oct. 3 in Montclair.
Senior co-captain Kaylese Gist had an assist and senior co-captain Samantha Herbert made six saves for the Mountaineers. Montclair was ranked No. 15 in the state by The Star-Ledger/NJ.com.
Mitchell and Nevins again the goals to pace WOHS to a 2-1 win at Caldwell on Oct. 5. Nyah Harper and fellow junior Morgan Clark each had an assist and Herbert made one save.
WOHS defeated Teaneck, 5-1, Saturday, Oct. 7, at home to raise its record to 9-0-2. Junior Kaitlyn Charles, Harper, junior Vanessa Lettman, Mitchell and Nevins each scored a goal. Nevins had two assists; and Clark, Gist, and Mitchell each had an assist. Herbert made five saves.
