WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School girls’ varsity soccer team improved to a .500 record with a big win last weekend.

After 10 games, head coach Sean Devore is certainly pleased with the Mountaineers’ 4-4-2 record.

“Team is doing well, just won against Bayonne on Saturday 4-0,” he said. “Our current record is 4-4-2 with the county and state tournament on the horizon.”

The WOHS coach said his team has been led by a handful of players, who have all made significant contributions.

“Anabella Schuler, our senior midfielder/forward, has done a great job for us as has our entire back four of sophomores Mya Bembry and Nyah Harper, junior Reyna Rahaman and freshman Kiara Pachuca,” he said.

The coach said his squad would compete in three more games until cut-off for state and county tournament seeding as West Orange will play Orange on Thursday at 4 p.m., Mount St. Dominic at home at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and at Caldwell on Monday at 4 p.m.

“Our girls have done a nice job as we are currently on track to qualify for state tournament,” he said.
