WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange High School girls soccer team will vie for its second straight North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 state tournament title.
Senior standout Natalie Nevins scored both goals to lead the sixth-seeded Mountaineers to a 2-0 win at second-seeded Randolph in the semifinals on Monday, Nov. 4. WOHS senior Cassidy Joyce made four saves.
WOHS, which won its fifth straight game to improve to 16-3 on the season, will visit top-seeded and Super Essex Conference-American Division foe Montclair in the final today, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. Montclair beat WOHS, 3-0, in the season opener Sept. 5 at WOHS.
In the quarterfinals, Nevins scored on an assist by junior Emma Mitchell in double overtime to lift the Mountaineers to a 1-0 win over SEC-American Division rival Livingston on Thursday, Oct. 31. Joyce made eight saves. Livingston, the No. 3 seed, fell to 14-3-2.
WOHS avenged the 3-2 loss to Livingston in the Essex County Tournament semifinals on Oct. 15.
The Mountaineers were the defending ECT champion.
