WEST ORANGE, NJ – Following three wins in a row against Montclair, Bloomfield, and Caldwell, the West Orange High School girls’ tennis team took first place wins in First Singles and Second Doubles at the Mendham Tennis Tournament on Sept. 15.
Sophomore Nneka Arinzeh defeated Claire Zheng of Kinnelon 6-3, 6-3 to capture the First Singles title. Funmi Oshodi and Herva Kana defeated Morristown Beard 7-5, 6-4 to take first place in Second Doubles.
West Orange’s Sophia Ruggiero took second place at Second Singles and the team of Kaia Baker and Madison Oliver finished third at First Doubles, placing the Mountaineers in a third place finish at the tournament.
With a current 3-1 record, WOHS takes on Glen Ridge in a home match on Sept. 17 at p.m.
