West Orange HS indoor track athletes advance to State Meet of Champions

Correction: The Meet of Champions will be Feb. 25.

WEST ORANGE, NJ – West Orange High School’s Elijah McLaren finished seventh in the boys’ 55-meter hurdles at the NJSIAA Group 4 indoor track and field State Championships at the Bennett Center on Feb. 17 in Toms River.

McLaren clocked 7.84.

The WOHS boys’ 4×400-meter relay team finished ninth in 3:32.65.
McLaren and the relay team earned wild-card berths for the NJSIAA State Meet of Champions on Feb. 25 at the Bennett Center. The Meet of Champions consists of the top six finishers in each event, plus wild-card berths, from the Group meets.

The Group 4 meet consisted of the top six finishers in each event from the section meets.

400-meter dash: 20th place, Jefferson Cajuste, 52.94.

1,600-meterun: 10th place, Ebizie Anuamadi, 4:28.97.

Girls

55-meter dash preliminaries: 15th place, Christy St. Hilaire, 7.58.

400-meter dash: 18th place, Abigail Vital, 1:01.68.

4×400 relay: 14th place, 4:12.61.
