WEST ORANGE, NJ – West Orange High School senior Tyler Eatman was recognized by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, Essex Chapter, on March 6 at Mayfair Farms.
Eatman received the recognition as a scholar-athlete along with his football performance and school leadership skills.
“Tyler was four-year member of both the football and wrestling teams,” said WOHS head football coach Jim Matsakis. “On the football field he was a starting offensive lineman and was part of the conference championship team in 2016, and he was also part of the sectional-winning wrestling team this past season. Academically, Tyler excelled in the classroom and held the top student ranking for the senior football players.”
“I feel honored for being recognized for this scholarship,” said Eatman. “I enjoyed playing football for all four years of my high school career and I am truly going to miss it. I would like to thank Coach Matsakis and his coaching staff for believing in my ability to play football, my parents and family for supporting me, my teammates for working hard every day and the support of WOHS. Go WO Mountaineers!”
In addition to the recognition by the National Football Foundation, Eatman will be achieving Eagle Scout rank this spring. He plans to attend Ohio State University on an academic scholarship.
