WEST ORANGE – The West Orange High School varsity softball team, despite finishing with an 8-16 record, featured several players who have earned All-Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division and Worrall Media All-Area honors.
They include shortstop Nahtali Simpson (First Team on both All-SEC-Liberty and All-Area); catcher Chyna Chitty (Second Team All-SEC-Liberty and First Team All-Area); left fielder/pitcher Emma Scalora (First Team on both All-SEC-Liberty and All-Area); and first baseman Amanda Scalora (Honorable Mention on All-SEC-Liberty and Second Team All-Area).
Simpson batted .423 (33-for-78) including four doubles and two triples with 25 runs scored, 13 RBI, 11 walks, 15 stolen bases, a .521 On-Base Percentage and 54 putouts with only one error in conference.
Chitty batted .419 (31-for-74) including seven doubles, five triples, one home run, 16 RBI, 15 runs scored, four walks, three stolen bases and a .449 OBP.
Emma Scalora batted .293 (22-for-75) including seven doubles, one triple, one home run, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored, seven walks and .345 OBP. As a pitcher, she had a 5-7 record and a perfect fielding percentage in the outfield and in the pitching circle.
Amanda Scalora batted .286 (20-for-70) including five doubles and one home run with 16 RBI.
