West Orange HS softball team starts 2-0 on the season

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School varsity softball team, under head coach Joel Troast, won its first two games to start the season.

The Mountaineers defeated Newark East Side, 18-5, in the season opener April 5. Nahtali Simpson went 2-for-3 with a triple and six RBI; Erin Vermeal went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI and Danielle Fastiggi went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

Simpson had a triple, homer and four RBI in the 10-7 win over Glen Ridge on April 6 in Glenfield Park in Montclair. Fastiggi had two hits and two RBI ; Siena PIzzano had three hits with a double; Vermeal had three hits, including two triples, an RBI and three runs scored; Andreyah Ageday had three hits and an RBI and Sophia Scholz struck out six for the win.
