West Orange HS track and field teams win Mountie Relays titles to begin season

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams both finished in first place in Large School team standings at the Mountie Relays in the season opener on Saturday, March 31, at Woodman Field in Montclair.

The following are their highlights:

Girls

One mile run: Franceska Jean-Jacques, fifth place, 6:00.41.

400-meter hurdles: Abigail Vital, first place, 1:13.54. Racheal Ezomo, sixth place, 1:17.12.

4×100 relay: first place, 50.92.

4×200 relay: first place, 1:47.29.

Sprint medley relay: first place, 2:23.90.

4×400 relay: fifth place, 4:29.79.

Distance medley relay: second place, 14:50.91.

High jump: Tyra Brooks, first place, 5 feet.

Triple jump: Brooks, fourth place, 31 feet-4 3/4 inches.

Pole vault: Danielle Tacuri, first place, 5-5.

Discus: Erica Odoemene, third place, 101-1. Karen Odoemene, fourth place, 96-4.

Shot put: Denae Hill, third place, 33-4 1/4.

Boys

3,000-meter run: Pierce Moul, fourth place, 10.20.96.

400-meter intermediate hurdles: Elijah McLaren, second place, 59.76. Jefferson Cajuste, fourth place, 1:01.95.
