MONTCLAIR, NJ — West Orange resident Tim White, who has been the cross country coach at Montclair Kimberley Academy for the past two years, has now been elevated as the year-round track and field coach for the Cougars.

“It’s with great pleasure that we name Tim as our head coach for indoor and outdoor track and field,” MKA Athletic Director Todd Smith said. “He’s done a terrific job with our cross country runners the past two years and we look forward to him now guiding all our track and cross country teams on a year-round basis.”

White had a superb fall in guiding MKA to much success on the distance-running cross country scene.

In the Non-Public North B state sectionals, MKA placed third with 70 points, while Morris Catholic was second with 57 and Newark Academy won the team title with a low of 15; Newark Academy also took the top five individual places.

“Our guys ran very hard and I’m extremely proud of their effort in placing third in Non-Public, North B,” White said. “They really went for it and a few of our athletes had been in and out of practice for weeks at a time this season due to contact-tracing protocols with the school.

“I was very pleased that they were dedicated enough to keep up with their workouts while separated from the team,” he continued. “I am very pleased with the third place. It’s a testament to the improvement we made throughout the season. Newark Academy is an exceptional program and we are a year or so away from performing like that, but I was proud of how close we were to second place this season and I think if there were a different set of circumstances that we could have made a push to beat Morris Catholic for second.”

Now, White can shoot for success for all his MKA tracksters as the spring season gets underway.
