MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Maplewood Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs will be again be sponsoring SeniorStudio, a studio art painting program. These classes are specifically designed for senior residents, ages 60 and older, with no arts experience, and new students are encouraged to sign up, but students of all skill levels are welcomed.
The 10-week curriculum includes eight painting classes, including a quality final art project and specially created programs at the Newark Museum and with a local arts gallery. Classes will be taught by Lorena Vera. The theme for the final project will be an acrylic animal in a landscape or seascape setting.
There will be two separate sessions with identical curricula — a morning session from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and an afternoon session from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Classes will be held weekly on Mondays, from Sept. 17 to Nov. 19, at DeHart Community Center, 120 Burnett Ave., Maplewood
