Two Towns 5K Turkey Trot returns Nov. 19

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Runners of all ages are invited to join the Two Towns 5K Turkey Trot & Kids’ Fun Run on Saturday, Nov. 19, through South Mountain Reservation. The run will be a scenic one. The route is Crest Drive in the Maplewood part of the reservation, a roadway and paved pedestrian path on a forested ridge with glimpses of the Manhattan skyline. Registration will open at 8 a.m. on Nov. 19. The 5K race will start at 9; the Kids’ Fun Run will begin an hour later at 10. The event will take place rain or shine.

The men’s and women’s winners will each receive a trophy and a $50 gift card to the Sneaker Factory. All participants will receive a T-shirt while supplies last. Children can participate either in the Fun Run or, if they’re more advanced runners, in the full 5K. Each Fun Run participant will be given a medal, and the top boy and girl in the 5K will each win a trophy.

The race is a fundraiser for the PTA of Seth Boyden Elementary, a demonstration school that draws students from Maplewood and South Orange. The sponsors are Seven Point Wellness of Maplewood, Wilber’s Painting of Millburn, Realtor Susie Adamson of Keller Williams Midtown Direct Realty, Community First Soccer of Maplewood/South Orange, CKO Kickboxing of Maplewood, and Stop & Shop.

Pre-registration for the 5K is available until Nov. 16. To pre-register, or to make a donation to the fundraiser, visit the race website at https://runsignup.com/Race/NJ/SouthOrange/5K2KTurkeyTrot.

The public is encouraged to attend and cheer on the runners. Carpooling is recommended, as parking is somewhat limited in the reservation.
