BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The Bloomfield High School Key Club hosted a pre-Thanksgiving dinner for seniors on Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the high school cafeteria. Helping out with serving dinners and beverages was the Builders Club, the Bloomfield Middle School version of the Key Club. Both groups are sponsored by the Bloomfield Kiwanis Club.

The Builders Club also made the paper turkey centerpieces and brandy snifters that were filled with acorns and placed on each table. The Builders Club co-advisors, both eighth-grade math teachers, are Sarah Massey and Jackie Grasso.

According to Alexandria Gasparri, a BHS math teacher and a Key Club co-advisor, 125 turkey dinners were ordered and about 100 were eaten and taken home. Desiree Testa, a BHS history teacher, is also a club co-advisor. The meals were provided free-of-charge by Bella Casa, in Belleville.

Diners were entertained by the high school string ensemble under the direction of orchestra teacher Claire Schlegel. The choral group, the Madrigals, also performed.

Many of the guests said they had attended at least several previous Key Club Thanksgiving luncheons. This was a common-enough response for a popular event that is estimated to have been around for 35 years.
