EAST ORANGE, NJ — Mayor Ted Green, the East Orange City Council and the Department of Public Safety came together to celebrate the 91st birthday of a community pillar, Alberta Daniels.
Daniels is a founding member of the East Orange Women’s Alliance and one of the first women appointed to the East Orange Board of Fire Commissioners. Daniels is also one of the longest serving members of the East Orange Democratic County Committee. Green and the City Council recently renamed the corner of North Maple and Lafayette avenues “Alberta Evelyn Daniels Court” in honor of the longtime resident’s countless years of dedication to public service.
“Celebrating a formidable community activist and leader such as Mrs. Daniels will always be an honor,” Green said. “Mrs. Daniels paved the way so that many of us can continue to serve East Orange, just as she did.”
