GLEN RIDGE, NJ — Incumbent Councilman Dan Murphy will be joined by challenger and fellow-CCC nominee Debbie Mans on the Glen Ridge Council. Both seats are for three years. Incumbent Arthur Dawson finished a distant third in the balloting.
The uncertified results show Mans receiving 1,146 votes; Murphy, 1,082; and Dawson, 397. In a telephone interview, Mans credited her getting the most votes to the effort she and supporters put into campaigning.
“There was a really good group canvassing the whole town,” she said. “I didn’t want to take any chances because I was running against two incumbents. We were out reminding people of my work. I had to do a lot to get name recognition. We had a bunch of folks from the environmental committee and moms.”
Mans said, once she becomes a council member, she would like to work with the DPW.
“I’m excited and I have to learn,” she said.
Murphy could not be contacted.
Board of Education candidates Paul Romano, Tracey St. Auburn and Alison Lang, all incumbents, ran unopposed.
