Health Department planning ‘senior prom’

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The township of Bloomfield will hold its second Senior Prom on Friday, April 8. The free event is open to all Bloomfield resident, 60 and older. It will be at the Bloomfield High School cafeteria, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Paula Peikes, supervisor of Human Services for the township, said registration is required. The original deadline of today has been extended to Monday, April 4. To register, call 973-680-4017.

“We had about 110 seniors last year,” Peikes said. “We hope to have more this year.”
The party venue last year was on the Bloomfield College campus, adjacent to Westminster Hall.
But it did not have an ADA-accessible bathroom as does BHS.

Transportation will be provided, if needed. But if anyone plans on driving to the high school, parking will be available in the back. Also helping out will be the Bloomfield Recreation Department and the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Network.
All sorts of food will be prepared and served by Bloomfield College student nurses, Peikes said.

“It’s a great opportunity to meet and mingle with people,” she said.
So grab a date as music will be provided.
