Program to focus on anxiety and depression in the elderly

SUMMIT, NJ — Dr. Matthew E. Barnas, a geriatric psychiatrist and director of NJ Memory & Behavioral Care in Cedar Knolls and Springfield, will lead a program discussing the prevalence of depression and anxiety among older adults, the signs and symptoms to be aware of, and prevention and treatment options. According to Barnas, depression and anxiety are common among older adults and often go untreated and undetected. This presentation is open to all and will run Thursday, May 3, from noon to 1 p.m. at SAGE Eldercare, 290 Broad St. in Summit.
