NJ Transit Police Department to accept applications for new officers

NEWARK NJ — The New Jersey Transit Police Department will be accepting applications from those interested in becoming new officers. Candidates may register at policeapp.com. Applicants may only apply for the test through this portal.

The first 1,000 applicants will be considered and information regarding the physical qualifying test, to be held the weekend of Dec. 15 and 16, will be relayed through email.

“We are looking to expand the talent pool in all of our departments across NJ Transit and for those who desire to protect and serve, consider joining the New Jersey Transit Police Department,” NJ Transit Executive Director Kevin Corbett said. “You will work side-by-side with the brave men and women who encompass our police department and serve on the front lines against terrorism and criminal activity.”

When registering on policeapp.com, applicants will be asked to upload a resume and an unofficial college transcript or degree. Candidates must be at least 21 years old on the date of the physical examination and not have reached their 35th birthday at the time of the appointment to the Police Academy Training Program. Candidates must be citizens of the United States on the date of application submission and never have renounced United States citizenship. Candidates must have a driving record in good standing and a valid driver’s license on the date of the application submission. By Dec. 31, 2018, candidates must have achieved a bachelor’s degree; 60 college credits plus one year of full-time or part-time experience as a first responder; or 30 college credits plus at least two full years of continuous active-duty military service with an honorable discharge. To be considered to be a New Jersey Transit Police Officer, interested applicants must meet all of the necessary requirements.
