MAPLEWOOD, NJ — After a one-day rain delay, the 40th annual Senior Picnic brought blue skies and wide smiles on Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Maplewood Community Pool.
Mayor Vic DeLuca and Recreation Director Melissa Mancuso welcomed the crowd, and recreation staff served up deliciousness with a smile at the buffet-style spread. This year’s event included delicious standard picnic fare with the chicken being a standout favorite, and dessert was an all-new homemade ice cream cart where seniors could create our own sundaes.
Two musical attractions kept the crowd entertained, including the Jim Buchanan & Friends band with Dwight West singing to the crowd, and DJ Allan Bolles who brought sound and karaoke for crowd participation as well. Seniors spent the afternoon playing games, swimming and learning Zumba from instructor Nick Marchesani.
