Tree-lighting Ceremony and Holiday Gift Giveaway set for Dec. 6

Mayor Tony Vauss played host to the annual Community Luncheon at the INIC headquarters on 16th Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 20, followed by a turkey giveaway at the Municipal Building and a special tax sale in Council Chambers.

IRVINGTON, NJ — According to Mayor Tony Vauss and Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs Director Donald Malloy, the township’s annual Tree-lighting Ceremony and Holiday Gift Giveaway is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m.

“I look forward to sharing our holiday events with our Irvington community,” said Vauss on Tuesday, Nov. 19. “We believe in ‘One Team One Dream,’ in order to make Irvington strong, and that is our commitment to the community.”

Vauss said Thanksgiving is traditionally viewed as the start of the national holiday season, but the annual Tree-lighting Ceremony and Holiday Gift Giveaway is the township’s main holiday event.

“So we’re looking forward to a fruitful year,” said Vauss on Friday, Nov. 9, during the township’s annual Pre-Thanksgiving Community Dinner and Turkey Giveaway at the Irvington Senior Citizens Center on Springfield Avenue. “I’m excited about the year we’ve had, whether it be public safety or redevelopment. I’m just excited about the direction the township is going.”

Malloy echoed Vauss’ sentiments, saying, “The Tree-lighting we’re doing on the sixth of December and, again, we’re giving all of our kids gifts and everything.”
