Ithaca College women’s basketball’s Grace Cannon named to Liberty League All-Rookie Team

BLOOMFIELD, NJ (updated Tuesday March 13, 11:43 a.m.) – Bloomfield High School graduate Grace Cannon, a freshman on the Ithaca College women’s basketball team, made the Liberty League All-Rookie Team.

Cannon, a 2017 BHS graduate, played in all 29 games, with one start against Clarkson on January 13. Through 27 games, she averaged 4.3 points per game, and racked up 20 steals and 58 rebounds in 10.3 minutes per game. She scored in double-figures three times as a freshman, with her career high of 16 points against Vassar College on December 1.

Cannon grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds on February 16 against Bard. The Bombers posted a 19-6 regular-season record and captured their 20th win in the Liberty League Tournament against William Smith on February 20 before losing to Rochester Institute of Technology four days later.

Ithaca earned one of 21 at-large NCAA Division III Tournament bids. They beat SUNY-Geneseo in the first round and lost to Tufts in the second round to finish with a 21-8 record.

Cannon scored 1,520 points in her year career at BHS, making First Team on the All-Super Essex Conference in all four years.
