MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Columbia High School senior Jared Pangallozzi finished 16th overall out of a total of 309 runners at the Nike Cross-Country Northeast Regional at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers, N.Y. on Saturday, Nov. 26.
Pangallozzi, representing the Cougars Running Club, finished in a time of 16:19.8.
In the previous week, Pangallozzi took 27th out of 187 runners in 16:32 at the New Jersey State Meet of Champions on Nov. 19 at Holmdel Park in Holmdel. He advanced to the Meet of Champions after taking fourth overall in 16:07 at the state Group 4 Championships on Nov. 12 at Holmdel Park.
At the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 4 Championships on Nov. 5 at Greystone Park in Morris Plains, Pangallozzi was second overall in 15:53, just two seconds behind winner Ryan Martin, of Watchung Hills, to help the Cougars qualify for the state Group 4 Championships.
The CHS Cougars won the Essex County Championships team title at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield on Oct. 28, with Pangallozzi leading the way with a third-place finish in 15:36.
